Teaching Tools Files

The Teaching Tools are intended to assist teachers in problem-solving a plan to support young children who are having challenging behavior. The teaching tools product is available for download and works best if loaded to your hard drive in a folder or burned to a CD-ROM.

Program-Wide Positive Behavior Support

This booklet provides a report on the program-wide implementation of the "Teaching Pyramid", a model of program-wide Positive Behavior Support for early childhood applications, within a Head Start Program.

Positive Solutions for Families

This downloadable brochure is offered for early childhood programs to print and provide to families of young children. The brochure is also available in Spanish.

Positive Beginnings Training Modules

The Positive Beginnings training modules provide higher education faculty and professional development personnel with material that can be used to teach early educators, interventionists, and related service personnel about the use of Positive Behavior Support (PBS) with young children and their families

Recommended Practices Handouts

These free, downloadable fact sheets were developed to provide information on recommended practices for supporting young children with challenging behavior and their families. Reproduction and distribution is encouraged.

Believe in One, Believe in All

This down-loadable, free multimedia presentation illustrates the experiences of a student with autism included in a third grade classroom, along with the reactions, feelings, and beliefs of his support team members and peers.

Positive Educational Planning

This free, downloadable booklet provides a portfolio families can use to gather and share priorities and insights about their child in preparation for educational or service planning activities. Included within the form are sections that guide families to describe their child, share perspectives on their child's learning characteristics and identify desired outcomes.

I have a Friend with Autism

This free, downloadable brochure provides children with information on autism emphasizing that children with autism are more alike, than different from their peers.

Family Involvement in Functional Assessment

This free, downloadable manual provides teachers with guidance on how to involve families in the functional assessment and behavior support plan development process. A step-by-step process is described and helpful forms are provided.

Facilitator’s Guide: Positive Behavior Support

This free, downloadable guide provides facilitators of individualized positive behavior support with guidelines for conducting a functional assessment and developing a behavior support plan. Useful forms may be copied and used in the planning process.
